Rush Frequently Asked Questions

How is Delta Sigma Pi different from Alpha Kappa Psi?

Alpha Kappa Psi is another professional business fraternity within Leeds. You are welcome to rush both organizations, and we encourage you to learn about both fraternities. However, here are some general differences between Delta Sigma Pi and Alpha Kappa Psi:

  • Delta Sigma Pi has a GPA requirement (3.0 for returning students and a 3.75 unweighted high school GPA for incoming freshman). When we schedule professional events, we tell our recruiters about this requirement so they’re aware we are an academically driven group.
  • Delta Sigma Pi is open to only business and economics majors. Alpha Kappa Psi is open to all majors on campus. As a result, our professional events are more specific to those seeking degrees in business administration and economics.
Can I be a member of Delta Sigma Pi and a social fraternity or sorority?

Yes. Several of our brothers are active in Delta Sigma Pi as well as a Greek organization. However, you should consider the time commitments of being involved in both organizations to make sure you will be able to balance your schedule.

What is the time commitment of being a pledge or brother?

As a pledge, you will be expected to attend weekly meetings on Tuesday evenings. Over the course of the semester, you should also plan on completing 2 or more fundraising activities, 3 professional events, and 2 community service activities. We offer several options on various dates to complete these requirements. If you are concerned about the time commitment, you can talk to our current Pledge Educators about your specific situation.

As a brother, you will be expected to attend weekly chapter meetings on Tuesday evenings. To remain active, you will also need to attend 4 professional events (including our professional dinner), 2 community service events, and 2 fundraising events. There are several different opportunities to fulfill these requirements.

Following initiation, you will have the option to be inactive for one or more semesters. This is an ideal option if you have an unusually busy semester or studying abroad. We’re happy to work with you to help you balance the commitment of being in Delta Sigma Pi.

How much are fraternity dues?

For pledges, dues are $160. For brothers, dues are $190 each semester.

If you are unable to meet these financial requirements, we are more than happy to work with you. Financial need should not deter anyone from being involved in Delta Sigma Pi. Feel free to contact our Vice President of Finance for more information.

What if I don’t meet the GPA requirements for recruitment?

If you are a returning student with below a 3.0 GPA, or an incoming freshmen with below a 3.75 unweighted high school GPA, you are welcome to rush again when you meet the minimum GPA.

If I don’t receive a bid this semester, can I rush again in the future?

Yes. We have a competitive recruitment process, so we cannot admit everyone who rushes each semester. Several of our current brothers rushed more than once before they received a bid.
